It’s a girl!
The excitement I felt when I saw that slice of pink cake fall onto the serving fork, was indescribable! Vision of hair bows, and dresses, and mommy daughter time filled my thoughts, that I barley noticed Ian’s stunned face. He was going to have a baby girl! His nightmares of running off boyfriends, and paying for weddings will (eventually) come true, and I think he was overwhelmed!
The party was a huge success! We had over 30 people show up, and we filled the first 45 minutes chatting, catching up, and eyeballing the cake staring at me on the dining room table. I wanted to know what was inside that cake so bad! However, seconds before cutting into that cake I because incredibly nervous. I knew in a moment I would know the gender, and with that information I would be able to mentally picture my potential future with my child. It made me nervous, and scared since things would become so real!
After the party, my family and I went straight to the mall, to buy baby girl her first couple of outfits (the first of many). It was so fun looking at all of the girls clothes, and piecing together little outfits. I have a feeling a girl is going to cost me a little more money in clothes than a boy would have, but it will be well worth it!
I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family in my life, and this baby girl is going to be surrounded by people who love her so much! Now that it has sunk in that we will be the proud parents of a baby girl, Ian has come to terms with the fact that his daughter will have him wrapped around her tiny little finger as soon as she gets here.
Weeks: 23 weeks
Weight Gain: 8 lbs
Belly: 34.5 inches as of a couple days ago. It could be 35 inches now, but I’m too lazy to get my measuring tape.
Sleep: Good, but have been waking up more often to turn and switch sides. I’ve been able to time my drinking of water to where I can get through the night without waking up to use the bathroom, or just use it once, which has been great!
Food Cravings: Fruit, and Pizza.
Food Aversions: Chicken
Movement: A lot! Mostly in the afternoon and then late in the evening. Baby also reacts to Ian’s voice
Symptoms: Back pain started by up this week, I think it’s time for another massage. I’ve also spotted a linear nigra on my belly. Apparently normal at this point of pregnancy.
Belly Button in or out: still in!
What I miss: Eating sushi! Sleeping on my stomach.
Best moment this week: Finding out the gender. And having our friends and family around to share in the moment. (And getting it on video for those who were not able to make it)
Weekly Wisdom: Don’t buy too many clothes for your future child. Most likely the excited grandmother-to-be will be purchasing enough clothes for her future grandchild to wear 5 outfits a day.
What I’m looking forward to: Going shopping for more baby things for our precious little baby girl. Also, we do our registry at Babies R Us this weekend. That will be intense, but fun!
